Tampa, Florida-  This time of year is peak boating season.  Kevin Martinez drove to Tampa from Dade City to take one of his two boats out for a relaxing day of fishing.  Kevin says he’s all too aware of the latest trend when it comes to boats.

Boat theft is now a big business.  And one of Kevin’s friends is a victim of this growing type of crime.  “He had it parked in his front yard and the middle of night he came outside and the boat was there, but the motor was gone,” Kevin says.

Royal Yacht propellers stolen

Thieves have stolen two propellers from the Royal Yacht Britannia. The phosphor bronze propellers, worth more than £7,000 each, were stored in a warehouse near Britannia’s berth at Ocean Terminal in Leith Docks.

Thieves claim power lines near Castle Rock

Cowlitz PUD officials believe metal thieves tore down and stole 2,500 feet of overhead power line north of Castle Rock early Thursday morning.

It would be at least the second case of metal theft involving power lines in that area in recent weeks.

£3,000 drain covers theft ‘endangers lives’

THIEVES made off with 15 drain covers, worth £3,000, from four streets, in the latest metal crime wave in the area.

The batch of grates were ripped up from Snowley Park, Crossway Hand, Irving Burgess Close and Barnes Way, in Whittlesey, between 8pm, on Tuesday, June 3, and 7am the following day.

Copper thefts

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – With Copper prices on the rise, so are thefts of the metal.  In the past month and a half close to $70,000 worth of copper has been stolen from construction facilities on Purdue’s Campus. Purdue police say the most recent theft discovered on May 29th involved more than 600 feet of copper wire running about $42 a foot.
